The PADI Advanced Open Water course opens up more of our amazing and breathtaking underwater world while at the same time improving extremely valuable divers skills like underwater navigation, buoyancy control and safely diving to 30 Meters. Taking the PADI Advanced Open Water will enable you to make the most of your scuba diving in Phuket.

The AOW course is designed to help you understand advanced principles of scuba diving, further improve and hone diving/diver skills in a safe & controlled environment supervised by industry professionals and most importantly of all, having an extreme amount of fun while learning.

Learning how to handle different conditions and simply being able to go deeper will open up new areas for you to explore and be aware of any potential dangers.

The Advanced Open Water diver course has some basic pre-requisites listed below but essentially any certified diver of almost any age can sign up for the PADI Advanced Open Water course to improve their diver skills & diving knowledge. Don’t trust your diving education to anyone else but Local Dive Thailand at our PADI 5* Dive Center, we will ensure you get the best training at the right price, and have a wonderful time doing it.

The Choice Is Yours

What you might not know about the advanced course is that it is designed to give you an introduction to many of the other types of diving, or specialties as we call them when we talk about scuba diving. Five adventure dives are required on the advanced course. You will complete 2 compulsory specialty dives and then you will pick three that interest you. We also give you an extra dive at no extra cost to use as a check dive or purely just for fun.

We can arrange a night dive from November to April. This will mean that your second day will consist of one afternoon and one night dive at Kata Beach.

Combine With Enriched Air Nitrox

A super combination that will really open up opportunities for you. As well as being able to go deeper and improve confidence and skills with the PADI Advanced Open Water Course, adding PADI Enriched Air Nitrox will allow you to stay deeper for longer. When all the other divers ascend to stay safely within there no decompression limits, you won’t need to! Get the dive site to yourself and increase your chances of a special sighting. All for just THB 15,900! We’ll also supply nitrox for three of the dives

PADI eLearning Available

The Advanced Open Water course isn’t theory intensive but if you want to get your reading done before you arrive in Phuket then for no additional charge we can send you a link to download the Advanced Open Water digital manual. Not only will it save time on your holiday but you can store it on your mobile device and so always have it with you and of course it’s more environmentally friendly than a paper manual.

Course Pre Requisites

  • Minimum 12 Years of Age
  • PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)

What You Get Out Of It

Once you have completed the PADI Advanced Open Water scuba diver course you will be certified to dive to 30m with a buddy. This means no more 18 Meter limit as you are now a certified advanced scuba diver and provided you are not alone you can dive with your buddy down to 30 meters and see some of the more interesting wrecks and bottom dwelling creatures that live at those depths!

You also get a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver license delivered to your mailing address which you can carry with you on your travels so dive shops and instructors can instantly recognise your level of training, you’ll also be kept on the PADI diver database so even if you lose your card there will always be a way to prove that you are a certified AOW diver to anyone that needs it.

If you are diving with Local Dive Thailand you’ll also gain the best training Thailand has to offer, from our highly qualified and super dedicated dive instructors! You’ll also be ready for the next step – the PADI Rescue Diver course, be prepared to help yourself and those around you.

Where Do We Dive

As you can see from the Scuba Diving Tours we offer at Local Dive Thailand, there are three dive tours, all of these dive tours are suitable for Advanced Open Water Divers:

Basically you pick two of these locations, we recommend doing Racha Yai, Racha Noi Day 1, and King Cruiser Day 2, this allows you to get your training in an easier environment on the first day then do the really fun dives like the wreck dive on the second day. But flexibility is key with the AOW course so it is completely up to you which locations you’d like to visit.

*Please note that there is National Park Fee of THB 600 for Phi Phi

  • 6 dives
  • All PADI materials and certification fees
  • Instructor fees
  • All necessary equipment
  • Hotel transfers (from Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata, Rawai, Nai harn and Chalong only)
  • Breakfast, lunch, snacks, water, tea, soft drinks and coffee

What’s Not Included

If you’re staying in a resort outside the above listed then there may be a small additional charge. However we pick up from anywhere on Phuket. Accommodation is not included but we’re more than happy to recommend local hotels. if your course falls on a Phi Phi day (Sunday or Wednesday) then there will be a THB 600 National Park entrance fee. Beer (THB 60) is available to buy on the boat but only after the last dive.
