Choose PADI elearning For Your Phuket Diving Course And Free Up Valuable Vacation Time

In this digital age books are fast becoming a relic of the past, we can access all the information we need through the internet and diving is no different. The PADI elearning initiative was started in 2007 and has fast become the modern way of learning scuba diving theory.

Just as you can access your Facebook and instagramm accounts pretty much anywhere at anytime you can do the same with your dive theory and arrive on your holiday safe in the knowledge that you won’t be cooped up in a classroom for hours. After filling out some simple forms and a quick quiz you can head straight to the pool or open water depending on which PADI course you’re enrolling for.

Options?

At the moment there are two main options for PADI elearning:

  • elearning with video – available on or offline, contains everything you require leaving just a short quiz to complete on arrival
  • elearning lite – a basic version (manual only) does not contain videos but still has knowledge reviews, quizzes and exams. You’ll still have some classroom time to watch the mandatory videos but you’ll be finished with exams

How Do I Sign Up?

That’s fairly straight forward, you can either go directly through the PADI website or get a link from your PADI dive centre (recommended). If you do go directly through PADI then please remember to enter your chosen dive centre’s store number (ours is 23175). The registration is a simple process and you’ll be ready to start learning in minutes. There’s simple instructions for every step and if you get a little confused, contact PADI or your chosen dive centre for help. The below video shows what a simple process the registration is.

What If I Have To Cancel My Trip?

No big issue really, the elearning package is valid for one year from redemption and can used in ANY PADI dive centre. You won’t be able to get a refund for the elearning but when you get a chance to complete your course then any dive centre will reduce the price of the course because you’ve already paid for your certification fees as part of the elearning package.

What Courses Are Available?

The range is continually expanding but at present you can self study at home for:

Is It Worth It?

100% yes, every student who’s completed the elearning before arrival has been glad they’ve done so. Learning to dive in three days is no mean feat and by getting a huge chunk of the course out of the way before arrival frees a lot of time and makes the pool session much more relaxed and fun, there’s simply no need to rush. Of course you’ll also have a much happier instructor – we don’t like being cooped up in a classroom either.

So what are you waiting? Sign up for elearning today and start your life changing experience with us at Local Dive Thailand!

I've been enjoying the incredible marine life in our oceans for over 25 years. 13 years ago I became a PADI professional in Phuket, hoping to introduce as many people as possible to the incredible beauty of the seas.

Having been fortunate enough to dive all over south east and especially Thailand, I enjoy sharing my diving experiences and passion on this blog.

Originally from Bristol in the UK, I swapped the frigid waters of the North Atlantic for the warm tropical seas around Thailand and can confidently say that I wouldn't go back

Leopard Sharks In Phuket

We call them leopard sharks in Phuket and in south east asia in general but the rest of the world refers to Stegostoma (covered mouth) fasciatum (banded) as zebra sharks.
