MV Dolphin Queen

MV Dolphin Queen

4 Days/4 Nights From THB 19,800

The amount of returning divers is a great testament to this well organised Similan Island liveaboard

The MV Dolphin Queen is a very popular 3 decked wooden mono hulled boat that visits all the best dive sites in the Similan and Surin Island National Parks. She has a sundeck, a top deck with dining area and a main deck that has the spacious kitting up area and dive deck.

22 guests are comfortably accommodated in a mix of air-conditioned cabins to suite all budgets. The main deck has 2 double bed, 1 twin and 3 quad share cabins. The twin and quad have separator curtains to give guests a little privacy. The upper deck has two double sea view cabins that have outward facing doors so you can switch off the air-con and enjoy the cool sea breeze at night.

Food is particularly good and always gets a positive mention from guests. The European style breakfast is made to order and the rest of the delicious Thai meals are served buffet style in the outside dining area. A free flow of coffee, tea, toast, water, electrolyte drinks and fresh fruit are always available. All food is cooked fresh onboard so if you have any special dietary requirements or are worried about demonic Thai chillies then don’t worry just have a word with the cook.

Wetsuits, fins and mask are included in the trip price so you can leave them at home if you prefer.

All in all a great little liveaboard with a very experienced crew and management.

White Eyed Moray Eel On Phuket Diving Site

The King Cruiser Wreck

In May 1997 the adventurous captain of the King Cruiser car ferry strayed miles off course on his way to Phi Phi from Phuket and with an incredible feat of marine navigation found the only submerged reef for miles around. Unfortunately the intrepid captain's wanderlust resulted in a large hole in the ferry and the inevitable consequences. So was created Phuket's first wreck dive. Fortunately no lives were lost, all 500+ passengers were quickly rescued by the Thai navy and some passing fishing boats. Theories abound to how this 'accident' came to pass. These include insurance fraud due to the owners financial difficulties, alcohol and even that the local dive operators clubbed together [...]

Diving At Koh Doc Mai Phuket

Koh Doc Mai

Without a doubt Koh Doc Mai is the best site around Phuket for macro diving. The coral and sponge encrusted walls are filled with nooks and crannies that hide a myriad of small animals. Our keen eyed local guides are quick to find any new special critters that take up residence on this stunning limestone rock jutting out of the Andaman Sea. Koh Doc Mai translates to flower (Dok Mai) island (Koh) and there's plenty of hypotheses as to how the island got it's name but nobody is really sure. What we do know that in the right conditions it can be a fantastic dive site. The west edge of the island is the preferred side for diving and consists of a vertical wall that drops to around 25m the [...]

Hiring equipment can be a simple solution at a surprisingly low cost. Everybody feels comfortable with their own equipment, you'll know how many weights you need, know how your regulator breaths, will be confident that your perfectly fitted fins won't cause any blisters that can really ruin a trip, know your mask won't leak and having a computer that you are familia [...]

Bamboo Shark - Local Dive Thailand Amazing Local Dives

Shark Point – True to its name again

Divers will be happy to see the return of the Leopard and Bamboo shark at... Shark Point. Sightings of these amazing creatures have been frequent this past few months at Hin Mu Sang, the name in Thai for this popular day trip destination from Phuket. Shark Point is a dive site near Anemone Reef and King Cruiser, located between Phuket and Phi Phi. It is made up of three pinnacles with the most northern being Pinnacle No.1, and divers typically explore the first two pinnacles due to Pinnacle No.3 being deeper (its peak is 15m deep). The rocky pinnacles and surroundings are covered with a mix of hard coral, colourful soft coral, spectacular sea fans and huge barrel sponges. The dive [...]
