MV Dolphin Queen

MV Dolphin Queen

3 Days/3 Nights From THB 20,500

The amount of returning divers is a great testament to this well organised Similan Island liveaboard

The MV Dolphin Queen is a very popular 3 decked wooden mono hulled boat that visits all the best dive sites in the Similan and Surin Island National Parks. She has a sundeck, a top deck with dining area and a main deck that has the spacious kitting up area and dive deck.

22 guests are comfortably accommodated in a mix of air-conditioned cabins to suite all budgets. The main deck has 2 double bed, 1 twin and 3 quad share cabins. The twin and quad have separator curtains to give guests a little privacy. The upper deck has two double sea view cabins that have outward facing doors so you can switch off the air-con and enjoy the cool sea breeze at night.

Food is particularly good and always gets a positive mention from guests. The European style breakfast is made to order and the rest of the delicious Thai meals are served buffet style in the outside dining area. A free flow of coffee, tea, toast, water, electrolyte drinks and fresh fruit are always available. All food is cooked fresh onboard so if you have any special dietary requirements or are worried about demonic Thai chillies then don’t worry just have a word with the cook.

Wetsuits, fins and mask are included in the trip price so you can leave them at home if you prefer.

All in all a great little liveaboard with a very experienced crew and management.

Surin Island Dive Site Koh Tachai

Koh Tachai Pinnacle

Koh Tachai is a picture postcard tropical island with lush greenery and white sand beaches. Situated 20km north of Koh Bon and the Similan Island National Park. Underwater it's even more spectacular, huge granite boulders, healthy corals and tonnes of fish. A couple of mooring buoys is all you will see above the surface. The top of the dome shaped pinnacle is at 12m and falls away to 45m on the deepest side. The site is usually exposed to [...]

Yellow Boxfish – Toxic And Inspiring?

Yellow boxfish are virtually guaranteed on any Phuket scuba diving trip. Cute, quirky and very photogenic, the yellow boxfish hides a couple of surprising facts. It should be of no surprise that the yellow boxfish has some hidden survival strategies. Being bright yellow and swimming around with no discernible plan isn't going to keep you alive very long. It's swapped the usual fish strategy of being fast or spiky for something different. [...]

Green Light To Go Diving Again

Officially from the 01st June, we'll be able to take MV Kebsup out to our local dive sites. The Thai government has finally given the green light for us to go diving again. Although a relief, there is still a plethora of hoops to jump through for even domestic tourists to get to Phuket. The latest news is that Phuket international airport will open from 15th June but such statements have been made before only to be retracted at the last minut [...]

Thailand Suspends Export of Seahorses

CITES has announced the Thai government's decision to suspend the export of seahorses after not being able to meet the CITES obligations for the trade in seahorses. Thailand decided to stop issuing export permits earlier this year in lieu of obtaining a sustainable solution and protecting the wild population. It's a welcome move and hopefully a chance for one of diving's most loved animals to increase in numbers. Thailand is the world's large [...]
