MV Dolphin Queen

MV Dolphin Queen

4 Days/4 Nights From THB 19,800

The amount of returning divers is a great testament to this well organised Similan Island liveaboard

The MV Dolphin Queen is a very popular 3 decked wooden mono hulled boat that visits all the best dive sites in the Similan and Surin Island National Parks. She has a sundeck, a top deck with dining area and a main deck that has the spacious kitting up area and dive deck.

22 guests are comfortably accommodated in a mix of air-conditioned cabins to suite all budgets. The main deck has 2 double bed, 1 twin and 3 quad share cabins. The twin and quad have separator curtains to give guests a little privacy. The upper deck has two double sea view cabins that have outward facing doors so you can switch off the air-con and enjoy the cool sea breeze at night.

Food is particularly good and always gets a positive mention from guests. The European style breakfast is made to order and the rest of the delicious Thai meals are served buffet style in the outside dining area. A free flow of coffee, tea, toast, water, electrolyte drinks and fresh fruit are always available. All food is cooked fresh onboard so if you have any special dietary requirements or are worried about demonic Thai chillies then don’t worry just have a word with the cook.

Wetsuits, fins and mask are included in the trip price so you can leave them at home if you prefer.

All in all a great little liveaboard with a very experienced crew and management.

Racha Noi North Tip

Racha Noi North Tip is a picturesque little bay and a beautiful Phuket diving location. Granite boulders topped by lush tropical vegetation make a great setting for diving. Boulders reach out from the island on either side of the bay and continue underwater giving the dive site a 'Similan Island' feel. The shallow area of the bay is composed of sand interspersed with small hard coral bommies. Leaves from the island gather here so attractin [...]

Koh Bida Nai Scuba Diving Location

Koh Bida Nai

In the interest of variety we don't dive Koh Bida Nai very often. It's very similar to it's sister island Koh Bida Nok which we consider to be a better dive site. It was on a par but since we lost the beautiful staghorn fields to coral bleaching it's lost a little of it's lustre. Still it's an interesting dive site with lots of hard corals, boulders and swim throughs. The swim through at the south west corner is particular nice. It forms a [...]

Manta Bay – A Beautiful Phuket Dive Site

We started diving the beautiful Phuket dive site at manta bay a few years ago. Mainly when Banana Rock was too busy but the new coral growth and marine life has seen us return frequently. It's now a regular dive site for the second immersion on the Racha Noi/Yai scuba diving tour. There's plenty to see for all levels and conditions are generally very easy. Everyone! It's a very simple dive site. The shallow areas are perfect for PADI D [...]

Octopus Are a Common Sighting In Phuket Diving Rare & Peculiar Critters

How Does An Octopus Change Colour?

Dazzling colour changes and perfect camouflage make octopus a favourite with everybody diving in Phuket but how do they perform this magic trick, well it's not mirrors, sorcery or witchcraft it's a complex combination of muscle, nerves, brain and skin pigments. By far the most common octopus we see when diving in Phuket is the day octopus (octopus cyanea) so we'll base our facts around this very convenient creature (we don't do night dives). [...]

Banded Sea Krait At Koh Bida Nok - Phuket Rare & Peculiar Critters

Phuket’s Deadly Pacifist!

If we stumbled across a cobra on our Phuket travels most of us would disappear into the distance screaming yet we can calmly watch a snake with a more toxic venom from just a couple of meters when scuba diving. The yellow lipped banded sea krait has a very powerful myotoxic venom and is probably the only snake you'll encounter on your Thailand holiday. The reason you may hear is that their mouths are too small and they can only bite yo [...]
