MV Jovanna A New Similan Island Liveaboard

MV Jovanna only started operations in 2023. A brand new custom built liveaboard that has received extremely good feedback so we’ve decided to offer it to our guests for 2024 onwards. Lots of great features make this vessel one of the most diver friendly and comfortable boats in the Andaman Sea.

A maximum of 26 divers in 13 air-conditioned, spacious and comfortable cabins spread over two decks is a generously low number for a vessel of this size. The 8 cabins on the upper deck have huge windows so you can enjoy the views in air-conditioned comfort if the tropical sun is a bit hot for you. The 5 lower deck cabins don’t have windows but are priced much cheaper and represent great value for money.

Each cabin has air-conditioning, ensuite toilet and hot shower, life jackets, beach towels, hand towels, hairdryer, soap and shampoo.

The communal areas on MV Jovanna are packed with great features. The air-conditioned lounge has a large tv and a PS5 along with a library of movies. The upper sun deck has sun loungers, a shaded lounge area and even a jacuzzi! Photographers have the rare luxury of a dedicated camera room.

They’ve done a great job with the tender, it’s extremely diver friendly and very easy for divers to get in and out of the water. A necessary evil after a Similan Island rule change a few years back.

All of the usual suspects in the Similan and Surin Islands will be visited by MV Jovanna. Richelieu Rock, Koh Tachai and the clear blue waters around the Similan islands so why not do it in style at a great price.

Phi Phi Islands & Shark Point Diving

The Phi Phi Islands are an incredible diving experience. In the first 5 minutes of your dive at Koh Bida Nok, you're likely to be able to tick blacktip reef sharks off your list. It won't be just one, you could be swimming with a dozen or more! Sharks from half metre babies up to the 2m long adults patrol the shallows of the sheltered bay where we make the first drop. A great start to the day. Then it's off to'Turtle Rock' which is home to [...]

surface marker buoys a critical piece of dive equipment Equipment We Like

Surface Marker Buoys

Surface marker buoys (SMB) wasn't a standard to teach on PADI Open Water courses but it has been for quite a while now. Quite rightly so, surface marker buoys are a cheap yet essential piece of equipment. It's not an understatement to say that they can save lives. Along with mask and fins, it should be one of the first pieces of equipment you purchase. You can get yourself a basic surface marker buoy and finger reel for less than US$20. [...]

When Will Thailand Reopen For Tourists?

For short term tourists, we simply don't know when Thailand will reopen for tourists. The various tourist associations on Phuket do have a plan to privately vaccinate the tourist workers. The plan will hopefully enable vaccinated tourists to arrive on the island in October 2021. However this has yet to be approved by the government but we have our fingers firmly crossed. *Update: Phuket has been chosen for what the government are calling t [...]
