PADI Search & Recovery Diver

Not All Heroes Wear Capes But A PADI Search And Recovery Diver Should

It happens, that moment of despair when you see your torch, watch or other valuable piece of equipment slowly disappearing into the depths. Sunlight glinting from the shiny surfaces seemingly mocking your loss but don’t despair! If you have a PADI Search & Recovery diver on hand then you may just be able to recover your seemingly lost forever item.

Searching underwater is not easy, this fun and informative course will teach you effective and efficient search patterns. Helping you locate missing items and win the gratitude of your clumsy friends. Not only will you be able to find things but you’ll learn how to safely recover them to the surface. From jewellery to outboard motors so you could be the hero to save the day.

Who Can Take The PADI Search And Recovery Diver Course?

Advanced Open Water or Open Water with Underwater Navigator Specialty divers from any diving agency, not just PADI and be at least 12 years old.

What Skills Will I learn?

Loads! This course starts way before the dive, planning is a key component and will really get your brain working. Your navigation will improve as you use various different search patterns and your buoyancy skills will be tested. You’ll learn effective knots and how to use a lift bag over the course of four fun packed dives on our dive boat MV Kepsub.

Under the guidance of your PADI instructor you’ll determine which search pattern to use, whether to use natural or compass navigation to find large and small objects, choose which knot to secure and lift heavy objects from the ocean floor.

The first dive of the PADI Search and Recovery Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask your instructor about earning credit.

Racha Yai

Racha Yai is not the place to go if you're looking for stunning coral reefs, although the hard coral gardens in the shallow water are incredibly pretty. To replace the coral damage from the bleaching event that occurred in 2010 the Thai government has placed a whole heap of artificial reef structures to attract marine life and take the pressure off the remaining corals. This is where most of the structures lie, there's 5 small wrecks and [...]

It's now a regular dive site for the second immersion on the Racha Noi/Yai scuba diving tour. There's plenty to see for all levels and conditions are generally very easy. Everyone! It's a very simple dive site. The shallow areas are perfect for PADI D [...]

A Great Days Diving At Phi Phi And Shark Point

Thankfully there was no wind or waves on our way to divingPhi Phi and Shark Point. Although grey and overcast, a comfortable journey ensued with the hope of better conditions under the waves than we had above. We weren't to be disappointed. Visibility in the bay at Koh Bida Nok was excellent. A quick swim up into the shallows brought a brief glimpse of a couple of blacktip reef sharks cruising around in less than 3m of water. Heading deepe [...]
