Koh Haa & Southern Andaman Liveaboards

The Southern Andaman Liveaboards Are Very Much Worth A Try If Diving Phuket

Southern Andaman liveaboards run to Koh Haa, Hin Daeng & Hin Muang. Rivalling the Similan Islands in natural beauty, corals and marine life. Koh Haa sports two more well known dive sites, those of Hin Daeng and Hin Muang. Both are open water pinnacles rising from the sea floor, with Daeng just penetrating the surface and Muang just below it. These two dive sites are home to healthy populations of visiting giant manta rays. In truth, sightings here are much more reliable than Koh Bon.

Hin Daeng

The Thai name Hin Daeng translates to red rock. So called because of the vibrantly coloured soft corals this remote deep water pinnacle is covered in. Hin Daeng also has regular sightings of Whale Sharks & Manta Rays though more Mantas than the big spotty guy. The Mantas at Hin Daeng are so amazingly inquisitive and gentle you can hang in the water as they swim gracefully around you. But there is also so much more to see on these dive sites. Huge schools of Silver Trevallies, Barracuda, Black Tip Reef Sharks & Leopard Sharks are almost always seen at Hin Daeng and Hin Muang. For many Southern Andaman liveaboards guests, this is the highlight of the trip.

Hin Muang

Hin Muang’s translation is purple rock. Although very close to Hin Daeng, the soft corals have gone for the purple look. Hin Muang is a more diverse dive site who’s typography resembles that of massive castle turrets. It’s quite spectacular on clear days seeing the pinnacle turrets stretching off into the far distance of the blue ocean. It is a regular home to big Dog Toothed Tuna, Spanish Mackerel and other large pelagic hunters. They visit Hin Muang to gorge on the masses of fusiliers and other bait fish.

The beautifully coloured soft coral, anemones and fan coral are home to many numbers of small reef fish, shrimps, octopus and morays. The steep walls of these pinnacles drop to depths of below 60m and are awash with bright colours from the pristine and untouched corals. It truly is beautiful when surrounded by the deep Blue Ocean as it provides a striking backdrop to your Phuket liveaboard adventure and it is just waiting to be explored further by scuba divers.

Koh Haa

Trips to Koh Haa include many dives where you will explore some incredible caverns. Some can have you surfacing inside the island to view the stalactites hanging down from the ceiling some 30m above you. Other can have you swimming through narrow passages that connect different sets of caves. There are many more adventures to be had there than we can describe here. Koh Haa liveaboards are amazing diving experiences, with great and unforgettable diving on Hin Daeng and Hin Muang you certainly won’t regret checking out southern Phuket’s hidden scuba gem.

Will Scuba Diving Hurt My Ears?

Will scuba diving hurt my ears? is a question we frequently get asked. Anybody who's tried diving down when snorkeling will have felt the effect of pressure on their ears. So it's natural to assume it will only get worse when going deeper. That assumption would be 100% correct so that's why you're taught simple techniques to prevent pain or damage as part of the PADI Open Water Course. The techniques will quickly become habit and ear issues [...]
