Free Diving And Snorkelling In Phuket

Want To Do Some Free Diving Or Go Snorkelling In Phuket?

The warm, clear waters around Phuket make for excellent free diving and snorkelling tours. Local Dive Thailand won’t treat you as an add on. You’ll get the same care and attention as the divers. Small groups are the norm, you won’t be chucked in on one of the packed speedboat snorkelling sites. Our high quality guides will give you a briefing on safety and on all the wonderful marine life that you can expect to see.

We Supply Free Diving And Snorkelling Guides

Snorkelers and free diving bookings do include a guide who will be a minimum PADI Dive Master and first aid trained. With most Phuket snorkelling tours, your guide will give you an unconvincing briefing and then leave you to your own devices in groups as large as thirty. Our guides give so much more. Floatation devices are available for all. For strong swimmers and free divers this will be more of a hindrance than a help so the choice is yours.

After a thorough safety and marine life briefing, they’ll join you in the water to point out the stunning marine life and have a life ring at the ready at all times. Groups are small so that our guides can keep a close eye on everyone, keeping you all safe. If you’re a confident swimmer that does not require supervision in the water then you’re welcome to swim on your own but our crew members will keep a close eye on you.

Where Can you Go

Not all of our trips are suitable for free diving and snorkelling therefore our office staff will point you in the right direction. At the Phi Phi Islands the conditions are easy and you’ll have a great chance of seeing turtles and sharks. The final dive site at Shark Point can be a bit tricky so it’s only recommended in good conditions and only for strong swimmers.

Racha Noi/Yai is probably the perfect place to go due to the clear waters. Even from the surface you can clearly see the marine life. There’s not quite as much as the Phi Phi trip but we often get turtles in the shallows and occasionally even manta rays.

Phi Phi Island National Park News & Updates

Phi Phi Islands National Park Fee And New Diving Rules

From 2015 the Phi Phi Islands National Park jumped fee to THB 400 for all tourists and an extra THB 200 for divers. For 2022 this has been reduced to a THB 200 entry fee and THB 200 for divers. At first fees were collected sporadically but now park officials have set up a floating pontoon where all boats have to report. They also have a speedboat so they can board boats who "forget" to report. We're not sure if this is a permanent reductio [...]
