What Is A PADI Master Scuba Diver

What Is A PADI Master Scuba Diver

Sounds Awesome but what is a PADI Master Scuba Diver?

A PADI Master Scuba Diver is certainly someone who takes their diving seriously. To achieve this awesome sounding certification you have to put in a lot of time and effort and show exemplary dive skills.

You’ll need five PADI specialties to begin. There’s a lot specialties to choose from and your selection will depend on your location and your favoured dive environments. For most we would suggest that Enriched Air Nitrox and Deep are the most useful. However you may want to fine tune your buoyancy with Peak Performance Buoyancy or if you have a spot where you can regular dive at night then Night Diver would be one for you. If you dive in cold water, Dry Suit and Ice Diver would be the obvious choices. Make sure you fit the PADI Master Scuba Diver specialties to fit your requirements.

All The PADI Specialties

The full list is as follows:

  • Altitude Diver
  • Boat Diver
  • Cavern Diver
  • Deep Diver
  • Drift
  • Dry Suit
  • Ice
  • Night
  • Peak Performance Buoyancy
  • Search and Recovery
  • Underwater Naturalist
  • Underwater Navigator
  • Digital Underwater Photography
  • Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV)
  • Enriched Air Nitrox
  • Fish Identification
  • Wreck Diver
  • Adaptive Support
  • Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB)
  • Enriched Air Nitrox
  • Self Reliant Diver
  • Full Face Mask
  • Dive Against Debris
  • Sidemount
  • Shark Conservation

As you can see it’s a very long list so there will be something for everyone. For obvious reasons and some not so obvious reasons we can’t facilitate all of of them at Local Dive Thailand. Some are simply not practical and others we simply don’t have the qualified staff. So it’s better to just ask us first, if you ask about the Ice Diver course in Thailand you will be ignored…

Still A Little More For You To Do

If you’ve completed the five specialties, to qualify for the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating you’ll also have to complete the PADI Rescue Diver course and logged a minimum of 50 dives. Your local dive center can then send off your application to PADI and for US$ 50 (sometimes PADI promote for free) you can have the most awesome sounding certification in recreational SCUBA!

If you feel like you’re ready to attain the highest non professional rating from PADI then get in touch with Local Dive Thailand and talk to our friendly and Knowledgable staff.

I've been enjoying the incredible marine life in our oceans for over 25 years. 13 years ago I became a PADI professional in Phuket, hoping to introduce as many people as possible to the incredible beauty of the seas.

Having been fortunate enough to dive all over south east and especially Thailand, I enjoy sharing my diving experiences and passion on this blog.

Originally from Bristol in the UK, I swapped the frigid waters of the North Atlantic for the warm tropical seas around Thailand and can confidently say that I wouldn't go back
