Similan Island Dive Site Turtle Rock

Turtle Rock

Most of the Similan Island liveaboards steer away from night dives in favour of sunset dives that are usually far better but on the first night on the boat you may well jump in at Turtle Rock for your one and only night dive of the trip. The shallow, protected bay usually has very easy conditions to allow plenty of time to search all the nooks and crannies in safety. The dive site got its name from the turtle shaped rock that sits out of the water on the west side of the bay, however it's not uncommon to find sleeping hawksbill turtles underneath the boulders. The shallow bay has plenty of healthy coral to explore and this is the area you should stick to. If you go a bit too far west [...]

Koh Bida Nai Scuba Diving Location

Koh Bida Nai

In the interest of variety we don't dive Koh Bida Nai very often, it's very similar to it's sister island Koh Bida Nok which we consider to be a better dive site. It was on a par but since we lost the beautiful staghorn fields to coral bleaching it's lost a little of it's lustre. Still it's an interesting dive site with lots of hard corals, boulders and swim throughs. The swim through at the south west corner is particular nice, it forms an almost perfect triangle and always has a school of yellow snapper and occasionally a ribbon eel will make it home. On the sand around the deeper part of the swim through we can find kuhl's stingrays and cuttlefish, on the shallower exit we sometimes [...]

Phuket Diving Site - Shark Point Amazing Local Dives

A Different Look For Mondays

Local Dive Thailand now runs a day trip to Shark Point, Anemone Reef and Koh Doc Mai every Monday. These three great dive sites are regular features on the diving trips in Phuket but rarely all on the same day and Anemone Reef is often skipped in favour of the more popular Shark Point. So we've had a little change to our schedule to make sure all certified divers have a chance of visiting this trio of great dive sites. The only opportunity to visit at least two of these outstanding dive sites in one day was as part of the King Cruiser day trip but this means that divers only qualified to dive 18m had to skip one dive or as is more often the case not join the trip at all. So taking [...]

Enriched Air Nitrox In Phuket News & Updates

Nitrox Membrane System On MV Kebsup

Our day trip to the King Cruiser wreck is one of the most popular on the Phuket diving scene, it's even more enjoyable if you dive with Enriched Air Nitrox. The depth of the wreck 18 - 32m can make it a short dive on normal air tanks but with Nitrox you can easily make a full 50 minutes as long as your air consumption allows. With this is mind we decided to invest in a Nitrox membrane system, allowing divers to chose on the day if they would prefer Nitrox and if your not already Nitrox certified we have the teaching facilities on the boat to get you certified, meaning that you can start the course on the dive day and begin enjoying the benefits immediately. Our .. system produces a [...]

Black Tip Reef Shark at Palong Wall Phi Phi Islands dive tour Amazing Local Dives

Dive Site Spotlight: Palong Wall

Palong Wall is located on the west side of Koh Phi Phi Ley and is a popular day trip dive site from Phuket. The island offers an impressive sight with its massive limestone cliffs, and is also famous for its tropical paradise atmosphere portrayed in the movie The Beach. The dive site is a sloping reef dropping to a sandy sea bottom. You can find big and small things there - sea turtles, cuttlefishes, various species of fish, Nudibranches and much more. There are numerous open sandy areas in the shallows near the limestone wall. This is where most divers go on the look out… for sharks. Palong Wall is the dive site of choice in Phuket to see the Blacktip reef sharks, and you can [...]
