New PADI DSD Elearning

New PADI DSD Elearning

The PADI DSD Programme Now Has An Optional Elearning Element

The PADI DSD (Discover Scuba Diving) has been added to the long list of elearning options available through the PADI App. New divers will be able to learn some basic scuba diving theory before getting in the water. It’s not extensive theory, just some basic safety rules and some insight into how pressure affects us underwater.

Is This Complicating A Simple Experience?

Not at all, if anything it simplifies matters. The prospective diver will be able to learn the necessary basic theory via a simple instructional video. A simple quiz follows, all can be completed in about 20 minutes. The PADI DSD elearning is available in many languages, it comes with all the necessary digital forms so we’re not wasting paper.

Underwater signs are included so you’ll be able to communicate with your instructor or buddy with ease. Learning the basic signs before your trip will enable you to absorb more underwater signals on the actual dive day. As with everything in life – communication is the key.

The elearning doesn’t have to be completed before the dive day. You will have immediate access as soon as you sign up. So it can be completed poolside or when you’re on the boat. This of course doesn’t take away your interaction with your instructor. Your PADI professional will have more time to explain all aspects in detail and give you extra tips and advice.

The PADI System

PADI is the way the world learns to dive. Downloading the app will get you comfortable with how PADI elearning works. The app will also give you access to more information and what your potential next steps could be. An introduction to Open Water is available so when you’re ready to take the next step and become a certified diver, the process will be an easy and familiar one. The transition to continuing diver education will be seamless because you’re already in the PADI system.

A successfully completed DSD will count towards the Open Water course. You’ll still have to complete full elearning and pool sessions but you’ll only need three open water dives.

How do I Access the elearning?

That’s a very simple process. You can send us an email or even a WhatsApp message and we’ll send you a QR code. After you’ve registered we can set up the pool session or a trip out to the beautiful Racha Islands.

What are you waiting for? Let the adventure begin.

I've been enjoying the incredible marine life in our oceans for over 25 years. 13 years ago I became a PADI professional, hoping to introduce as many people as possible to the incredible beauty of the seas.

Having been fortunate enough to dive all over south east and especially Thailand, I enjoy sharing my experience and passion on this blog.

Racha Noi South Tip

Quite honestly we wish we could get to Racha Noi South Tip every trip but the converging currents from either side of Racha Noi make it a challenging dive even on weak tides. Only once or twice a month the current is low enough for us to get there but it's a real treat when we can. Even the guides are queuing up for this trip! The dive site consists of a series of huge granite boulders that have been washed smooth by the strong currents. C [...]

Similan Island Dive Site Anita's Reef

Anitas Reef

(temporarily closed) Anitas Reef is a super easy dive site with great visibility. For these reasons it's used by many liveaboards as the first dive of the trip so all the divers have a nice easy start and get their weighting correct for the rest of the trip. The dive will certainly start in the calm shallows and you'll slowly work your way towards deeper water. Your guide will check your weighting is OK and that divers are nice and rela [...]

There's nothing worse in diving than a foggy mask, well maybe running out of air, triggerfish, getting stung, putting on a cold wet wetsuit, DCS etc. After all we go diving to look at and explore the incredibly beautiful underwater world. Not many masks come out of the box completely fog free but the Cressi A1 does. You don't have to treat the mask at all. If you do, you may well damage the coating.
