Manta Queen 3

Manta Queen 3

4 Days/4 Nights From THB 21,500 Including Equipment

A Big Similan Island Liveaboard At a Small price

Manta Queen 3 cuts an imposing figure on the Similan Island liveaboard scene. This very large vessel was launched in 2011 and comfortably accommodates 31 divers. Her generous proportions offer a very stable cruise and plenty of space to relax between dives.

The unusually high number of air-conditioned cabin configurations ensures everyone can find something to suit their needs: Master 2 person en-suite cabin, Family Master en-suite 4 person cabin Twin bed en-suite cabins, Double bed en-suite cabins, Twin bed non en-suite cabins, 3 bed shared cabins and 4 bed shared cabins.

The common areas are spacious and have some nice touches, the hammocks on the sundeck are a favourite with sun worshipers and the large wood paneled saloon is a great place to chill out away from the heat.

Racha Noi – South Tip

Quite honestly we wish we could get here every trip but the converging currents from either side of Racha Noi make the South Tip a challenging dive even on weak tides. Only once or twice a month the current is low enough for us to get there but it's a real treat when we can, even the guides are queuing up for this trip! The dive site consists of a series of huge granite boulders that have been washed smooth by the strong currents, corals have a hard time establishing colonies in these conditions so you won't find too much here apart from in a few sheltered areas but that's not really what we come here for.... The site is the only manta cleaning station for miles around so any giant ma [...]

Phuket Diving Site Elephant Head Rock

Elephant Head Rock

Elephant Head Rock is a large rocky pinnacle that nestles between Similan Islands seven and eight. The strong current that runs between the two islands has washed the granite boulders on Elephant Head Rock smooth and created lots of really nice swim-throughs. Although strong currents are frequently prevalent the large size of the pinnacle ensures there is always a sheltered and safe area to dive and is often the first dive of the day to allow divers to explore the deeper areas of the site and catch the whitetip reef sharks cruising around on the southeast corner. If you do miss them on the first part of the dive then there's always a chance to see one resting in the many cracks and cave [...]

What Is PADI elearning ?

In this digital age books are fast becoming a relic of the past, we can access all the information we need through the internet and diving is no different. 2017 marks the 10 year anniversary of the PADI elearning initiative, the modern way of learning. Just as you can access your Facebook and instagramm accounts pretty much anywhere at anytime you can do the same with your dive theory and arrive on your holiday safe in the knowledge that you won't be cooped up in a classroom for hours. After filling out some simple forms and a quick quiz you can head straight to the pool or open water depending on which PADI course you're enrolling for. At the moment there are three main op [...]

Hawksbill Sea Turtle Descending from the surface Rare & Peculiar Critters

Meet the Hawksbills of Phi Phi

Sea turtles make for lovely encounters underwater. In Phuket day trip destinations, the species you are most likely to see while diving is the Hawksbill turtle. The name Hawksbill comes from the narrow pointed beak that resembles a bird’s beak. An other distinctive feature is the overlapping scutes pattern on the carapace, giving serrated edges to the upper shell. Hawksbill turtles can grow up to about 115cm in shell length and nearly 70kg in weight. You may encounter Hawksbills in numerous Phuket diving destinations, with very good chances in dive sites around Koh Phi Phi Ley, Koh Bida Nok and Koh Bida Nai. Like other species of sea turtles, the Hawksbill is not bothered muc [...]

Phuket Diving Trips – How it Works

I've dived in many places around the world and it's fair to say that scuba diving in Phuket differs greatly from anywhere else I've experienced. Most of the best diving spots in the world are fairly remote with limited infrastructure but Phuket is very different negating the necessity of staying in a dive resort or very close to the boat departure point. As a result divers come from all over the island to join us, so if you're wondering how it works read on... The time varies depends on where you're staying (see below) but will be between 06:30 - 08:00am from the reception area of your hotel. If our drivers can't immediately see you they will ask the hotel staff to call your name. Ple [...]
