Last Chance For Discount On Similan Island Liveaboards

Similan Island Discount Expires In August

The Similan Island liveaboard season is fast approaching, getting a space on the best boats at late notice is extremely difficult so save yourself the grief and get a 10% discount on both MV Pawara and MV Sawasdee Fasai by booking by the end of August 2020.

They’re two of the most popular boats that cruise the Similan and Surin Island National Parks and offer free nitrox for nitrox certified divers, a great bonus for the 4 dive per day schedule. All cabins have A/C which is a must in our tropical climate and are larger than most boats in the area but do remember it is a boat and not a hotel so don’t expect a huge amount of space.

All The Best Dive Sites

You’ll spend a day and a half around the Similan Islands dive sites before moving a couple of hours sail north to the manta cleaning station at Koh Bon, the high octane Koh Tachai Pinnacle, world famous Richelieu Rock and finally the fish covered Boonsung Wreck.

An incredible amount of different species can be encountered on these fabulous dive sites; from tiny pygmy pipehorses and harlequin shrimp to the huge oceanic manta rays and whale sharks. Both of these boats give you a fantastic platform from which to enjoy the best diving in Thailand.

Great Food And Great Service

The boats share the same owner so excellent, highly experienced staff and great food applies on both vessels. You’ll feel a bit like a hobbit onboard, there’s first and second breakfast, lunch, afternoon cake and an evening meal, any idea you had of losing weight on the dive trip you can certainly forget. The staff have been guiding guests in this amazing location for years and know where to find all the special creatures.

I've been enjoying the incredible marine life in our oceans for over 25 years. 13 years ago I became a PADI professional in Phuket, hoping to introduce as many people as possible to the incredible beauty of the seas.

Having been fortunate enough to dive all over south east and especially Thailand, I enjoy sharing my diving experiences and passion on this blog.

Originally from Bristol in the UK, I swapped the frigid waters of the North Atlantic for the warm tropical seas around Thailand and can confidently say that I wouldn't go back

Sails Up On The Junk Liveaboard In Thailand

The Junk

The June Hong Chian Lee is the most unmistakable Thailand liveaboard. A throwback to a bygone era she was converted from a merchant cargo vessel to this elegant liveaboard in 1997 and has since been an ever present in the Similan & Surin Islands. During green season (May – October) she offers short and very well priced overnight trips to the dive sites around Phuket and Phi Phi. We know her as the ‘Junk’ but don’t be fooled by the [...]

getting to grips with iso Photo Tips & Tricks

Understanding ISO Underwater

What ISO stands isn't going to give you much of a clue as to what it does. ISO simply stands for International Standardisation Organisation, nothing much to pick from that. Back in the 70's two film standards (ASA & DIN) combined to make a standard measure for film sensitivity. Modern digital manufacturers have kept to the same measurements to maintain similar brightness levels as film. Essentially ISO tells your camera how bright the photo s [...]
