Green Light To Go Diving Again

Green Light To Go Diving Again

We’re Finally Allowed To Go Diving Again In Phuket

Officially from the 01st June, we’ll be able to take MV Kebsup out to our local dive sites. The Thai government has finally given the green light for us to go diving again. Although a relief, there is still a plethora of hoops to jump through for even domestic tourists to get to Phuket. The latest news is that Phuket international airport will open from 15th June but such statements have been made before only to be retracted at the last minute. This will only be for domestic flights.

Inter provincial bus travel starts up again today from Phuket. All previous destinations are available but with a reduced service. There are still quarantine rules in affect for certain provinces so please check before travelling. A great source of information for expats and tourists still in Thailand can be found here.

Safety First

Although the temptation was to go diving immediately. The decision was made to get the boat into dry dock for annual maintenance. We would have liked to have that already completed but boats weren’t even allowed to leave Chalong Bay. So at the first opportunity we took MV Kebsup out of the water. Not a great deal has to be done this year thanks to our excellent crew. Money is very elusive right now so fancy new alterations we had planned will go on hold. All being well we should be ready for the 17th June.

All of our scuba tanks are currently having the annual inspection or hydrostatic tests if required. Our in house equipment technician has gone through all our equipment to make sure it’s in perfect working order. None of this is cheap but safety remains our utmost priority.

We’ll have a test run with the crew before taking out guests so we hope to have photos of Born, Pu, Sophii, Colin, Nikki, Phil, Tony and the rest of the crew doing what they do best very soon.

We hope to welcome you back soon but as we all know it’s very much dependant upon when international travel is allowed again. It may be as soon as the 01st July for some countries but it’s all up in the air firmly grounded for the moment. We think it will probably be more likely for international flights to be available from 01st August. We do have some great deals for Thai Nationals over the next few months, you can check them out in our discount section.

We’re still here and available if you need any advice regarding travelling to Thailand so please drop us an email.

I've been enjoying the incredible marine life in our oceans for over 25 years. 13 years ago I became a PADI professional in Phuket, hoping to introduce as many people as possible to the incredible beauty of the seas.

Having been fortunate enough to dive all over south east and especially Thailand, I enjoy sharing my diving experiences and passion on this blog.

Originally from Bristol in the UK, I swapped the frigid waters of the North Atlantic for the warm tropical seas around Thailand and can confidently say that I wouldn't go back

What Is The Best Dive Site In The Similan Islands?

The Similan and Surin Islands offer many great dive sites and we're fortunate to have dived at a vast majority of them. The best dive site in the Similan Islands is obviously very subjective but below is our top five and why. The liveaboard route around the Similan Island National Park will also include a fair percentage of dives inside the Surin Islands National Park so we have to include them. How Do I Avoid Seasickness?

How do I avoid seasickness is a question we often get asked. Fortunately throughout the Phuket diving high season we're blessed with generally flat seas. Around the beginning of May we start to get a swell come in from the open ocean. Although for most this has little impact on your dive day, for those who get seasick it can be horrible but there are ways to avoid it. Not going to go too far into the science but essentially your brain [...]
