Local Dive Thailand has received the Phuket diving TripAdvisor certificate of excellence
It’s the third consecutive year we’ve received the award, we’ve been running as company for 7 years. Before that we used to look after other companies dive guests, we still do but for the last three years we’ve been looking after more of our own guests. SO that’s why we’re beginning to show on the Phuket diving TripAdvisor section. Our experienced owners and staff have got it right from the beginning and below are some of the reasons why.
Our Phuket Diving Staff
We have a great team and we do really mean team. It’s not a bunch of individuals working for themselves but a group of Thai and European PADI professionals who all help each other out. All have bags of experience but there’s no big ego’s. They all swap between jobs – teaching, guiding, tour leading so they all know each others needs on the day. This creates a great atmosphere which is commonly mentioned in our Phuket diving TripAdvisor reviews.
A well organised team nothing was to much trouble. I was a little worried at first as my first dive in Thailand but was made relaxed by the instructor and had some of the most pleasant dives ever….Would highly recommend and would hesitate to book with them again… mgrose120 – TA Member
Our Boat Crew
Our Captain, three boat boys and engineer work tirelessly throughout the day. What customers will see is the helping hands both in and out of the water or a tossed line to assist you getting back to the boat. Before and after your diving day they’ll be filling tanks and cleaning the boat. In between dives they’ll wash all the cups and plates and again clean up any mess. Toilet blockages, guests vomit (seasick not the food) and any other issues are sorted by these unsung heroes. They don’t often get mentioned on our Phuket diving TripAdvisor page but they should do!
The Food
It’s not simple sandwiches or precooked meals, our onboard cook prepares all the food fresh before every meal. Many guests have said it’s the best food they’ve tasted on their entire Phuket vacation! Because everything is prepared onboard we can cater for all diets, just give us the heads up so we can bring the ingredients.
You’ll get a full hot breakfast, lunch and fresh pancakes after the final dive. Toast and fresh fruit are available all day as well as free flow, coffee, tea and water.
Food was delicious and filling. We came to really look forward to our pancake snack at the end of the day, and felt that we actually had better thai food on the boat than we did at some places on Phuket island where we were staying. Overall, one of the best decisions we made on this trip was to dive with Local Dive Thailand. Book it, you will be well taken care of!!!
The Boat
Our Phuket diving boat was built with divers in mind. Over the years we’ve listened to feedback from both experienced and novice divers and acted accordingly. If we think changes can be made to improve divers comfort, then we’ll do it. The dive deck has easy access to the water and we split the jump groups so that everyone has space to kit up. Most of your time on a dive day will be spent on the boat so we’ve made sure that we’ve used space wisely. Even when full there is plenty of space for divers to relax, not just sitting down but you’ll probably find a space to get fully horizontal.
Quite often most company’s get these things right but are then let down by their boat! Not this company, their boat is very well maintained, very well laid out so with a full boat it never feels crowded and the dive deck is spacious.

Diving Equipment
Our equipment is new and maintained to a very high standard. We have a certified in-house Aqualung technician who fixes and tests every issue. Onboard we have plenty of spare equipment just incase we do get a failure. The spare equipment isn’t just left in a box for months but regardless of use is swapped and fully serviced every month. We also supply weight integrated BCD’s for divers who prefer that option.
Most Of All We Listen
We’re not perfect and realise we never will be. Although our owners and staff have vast experience in the scuba field, we’re always open to new ideas. So we’re always willing to listen to any guests feedback regardless of their experience level, a new divers perspective can often be fresh and innovative. Just because we’ve doing it a long time doesn’t mean we have to be stuck in our ways. So please speak up if you dive with us, suggestions for improvement are always very welcome.
