New PADI DSD Elearning

New PADI DSD Elearning

The PADI DSD Programme Now Has An Optional Elearning Element

The PADI DSD (Discover Scuba Diving) has been added to the long list of elearning options available through the PADI App. New divers will be able to learn some basic scuba diving theory before getting in the water. It’s not extensive theory, just some basic safety rules and some insight into how pressure affects us underwater.

Is This Complicating A Simple Experience?

Not at all, if anything it simplifies matters. The prospective diver will be able to learn the necessary basic theory via a simple instructional video. A simple quiz follows, all can be completed in about 20 minutes. The PADI DSD elearning is available in many languages, it comes with all the necessary digital forms so we’re not wasting paper.

Underwater signs are included so you’ll be able to communicate with your instructor or buddy with ease. Learning the basic signs before your trip will enable you to absorb more underwater signals on the actual dive day. As with everything in life – communication is the key.

The elearning doesn’t have to be completed before the dive day. You will have immediate access as soon as you sign up. So it can be completed poolside or when you’re on the boat. This of course doesn’t take away your interaction with your instructor. Your PADI professional will have more time to explain all aspects in detail and give you extra tips and advice.

The PADI System

PADI is the way the world learns to dive. Downloading the app will get you comfortable with how PADI elearning works. The app will also give you access to more information and what your potential next steps could be. An introduction to Open Water is available so when you’re ready to take the next step and become a certified diver, the process will be an easy and familiar one. The transition to continuing diver education will be seamless because you’re already in the PADI system.

A successfully completed DSD will count towards the Open Water course. You’ll still have to complete full elearning and pool sessions but you’ll only need three open water dives.

How do I Access the elearning?

That’s a very simple process. You can send us an email or even a WhatsApp message and we’ll send you a QR code. After you’ve registered we can set up the pool session or a trip out to the beautiful Racha Islands.

What are you waiting for? Let the adventure begin.

I've been enjoying the incredible marine life in our oceans for over 25 years. 13 years ago I became a PADI professional in Phuket, hoping to introduce as many people as possible to the incredible beauty of the seas.

Having been fortunate enough to dive all over south east and especially Thailand, I enjoy sharing my diving experiences and passion on this blog.

Originally from Bristol in the UK, I swapped the frigid waters of the North Atlantic for the warm tropical seas around Thailand and can confidently say that I wouldn't go back

Diving From Liveaboards Banned In The Similan Islands

If you're not a fan of diving from dinghies then we have some bad news for you. Diving directly from your liveaboards has now been banned. It's a move that is supposed to protect corals and marine life, personally I've never seen a liveaboard in the Similan Islands National Park go near a reef. Liveaboards will have to keep their distance from the dive site or use official mooring lines. The other reason touted is safety. A diver unfortuna [...]
